ABOUT THE BOOK
ENGINEERING GEOLOGY FIELD MANUAL
PUBLISHERS : UNITED BOOK PRINTS
This manual provides guidelines and instructions for performing and documenting field work. The manual is a ready reference for anyone engaged in field-oriented engineering geology or geotechnical engineering. The manual is written for general engineering geology use as
well as to meet Reclamation needs. The application of geology to solving engineering problems is emphasized, rather than academic or other aspects of geology
Although the methods described in this manual are appropriate for most situations, complex sites, conditions, or design needs may require modification or expansion of the suggestions, criteria, and indices to fit specific requirements.
Many of the chapters in this manual will always need revision because they cover material that changes as technology changes. Critical comments, especially suggestions for improvement, are welcome from all users, not just the Bureau of Reclamation. The appendix contains abbreviations and acronyms commonly used in engineering geology.
CONTENTS

ABOUT THE BOOK
WATER SUPPLY
AUTHORS : ALAN C TWORT, DON D RATNAYAKA, MALCOLM J BRANDT
PUBLISHERS : Butterworth-Heinemann Publications
A number of key specialists in the water industry have contributed to the production of this fifth edition of Water Supply and as a result most chapters have been re-written, extended and updated. The text gives up-to-date national and international standards for drinking water quality set by the UK and EC regulatory bodies plus the World Health Organization and the US Environmental Protection Agency. It describes the incidence and significance of the main chemical constituents found in raw waters, and the types of bacteria, viruses and protozoan organisms which present a hazard to human health. New matters of concern with respect to chemical and microbiological contaminants are listed. The design is given of treatment works and the equipment used for chemical coagulation, clarification methods including dissolved air flotation, rapid gravity filtration, slow sand filtration and membrane filtration. Sludge disposal methods are presented with design parameters and tables of relevant data.

ABOUT THE BOOK
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING WATER, WASTEWATER, SOIL AND GROUNDWATER TREATMENT AND REMEDIATION
AUTHORS : NELSON L. NEMEROW, FRANKLIN J. AGARDY, PATRICK SULLIVAN, AND JOSEPH A. SALVATO (EDITORS)
PUBLISHERS : John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
As the global population grows and many developing countries modernize, the importance of water supply and water treatment becomes a much greater factor in the welfare of nations. In similar fashion, the need to address both domestic and industrial wastes generated by these nations moves higher on the scale of importance. Clearly, in todays world the competition for water resources coupled with the unfortunate commingling of wastewater discharges with freshwater supplies creates additional pressure on treatment systems. This volume attempts to address issues of water supply including the demand for fresh water, the treatment technologies available to treat water, and the treatment and disposal of community-generated wastewaters. The focus is the practicality and appropriateness of treatmentin suf?cient detail so that the practicing public health of?cial, water treatment engineer and plant operator, as well as those in the domestic and industrial waste treatment professions, can address their problems in a practical manner. The emphasis is on basic principles and practicality. said by the authors of this book.
