Factors that need to be noticed in the leaching process there are four kinds:
1. Particle size
Smaller particle size increases the surface area of contact between the particles with liquid, so it will increase the rate of mass transfer, but it also will reduce the diffusion distance. But the very fine particles are not effective when the circulation process is not on the run, in addition it also complicates the disposal of solid lees. So there must be a certain range of size of particles, where the particles must be small enough so that each particle has the same extraction time. Particles that are too small will make it difficult in the exhaust stream.
2. Solvent
Solvents should choose good then it will not damage the solute or solvent residues, high viscosity (thick) in order to free circulation may occur.
3. Operating temperature
Generally, the solubility of a solute that will be extracted will increase if the temperature is also higher and will increase the diffusion so that the temperature rise will increase the speed of extraction. But the temperature should not be too high because it will cause the material processed out of order.
4. Stirring
With the stirring, can increase the diffusion, mass transfer velocity of the particle surface into the solution and prevent the precipitation.
